Mehdi Benatia dismisses Roma title talk

Roma defender Mehdi Benatia dismisses his side's title chances this season, despite going unbeaten in the first 12 Serie A games.

Roma defender Mehdi Benatia has played down suggestions that his side are now the favourites to win the Serie A title.

The Giallorossi have made an impressive start to the campaign, having gone unbeaten in the first 12 games to sit top of the table.

Despite sitting above title rivals Juventus and Napoli, Benatia believes that Roma are not the favourites and are simply focusing on qualifying for Europe for now.

"We're not favourites for the Scudetto, our principal objective this season is to get this team back into European competition," Benatia told Sky Sport Italia.

"If anything more than that is possible, then we'll do that, but Juventus and Napoli will fight until the end and we'll have to duel with them."

Benatia left Udinese to join Roma in last summer's transfer window.
