Naldo almost gave the hosts the lead inside the opening minutes, but after connecting with Jefferson's cross, he could only turn the ball over the bar.
However, the hosts did manage to find the net in the 12th minute when Bryan Ruiz latched on to a ball over the top and squared for the unmarked Teofilo Gutierrez to tap in from close range.
CSKA were then given the chance to level the scores as Jefferson brought down Zoran Tosic inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty.
Seydou Doumbia stepped up to take the spot kick, but the striker saw his penalty kept out by Rui Patricio.

With five minutes of the first half remaining Doumbia made up for his miss, as he raced onto Roman Eremenko's through-pass and rounded the keeper, before sliding the ball into the empty net.
Doumbia had the ball in the net once again for the visitors early in the second half, but this time his effort was ruled out for offside.
The hosts soon began to regain control of the match and Slimani headed wide, before Andre Carrillo had a strike chalked off for another offside decision.
Sporting continued to press and with eight minutes of the match left they retook the lead when Carrillo's back heel found Slimani, who drilled a low shot into the bottom corner from just inside the box.
