Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has called on the Italian side to 'invest' following a disappointing start to the season.
The Serie A outfit have collected just 17 points from their first 19 matches of the season, with that run of form leaving them in 13th spot in the table, just five points outside the drop zone.
As a result, the Italian has called on president Silvio Berlusconi to overhaul the squad in the next two transfer windows.
"It was predictable what would happen. There is a generational change taking place at all levels," he told Il Corriere dello Sport.
"Berlusconi must return full-time, with his passion and expertise. To bring in major players it takes investment, as it did in the past."
Nesta won two league titles and two Champions Leagues during his 10 years with Milan.
