Dean Windass tells son Josh to reject new Accrington Stanley deal

Josh Windass will turn down Accrington Stanley's offer of a new contract, according to his father Dean.

Dean Windass has instructed his son Josh to turn down Accrington Stanley's offer of a new contract.

Windass junior, 21, is due to become a free agent at the end of the season.

The club are keen for the midfielder to remain at the Crown Ground, but his father has insisted that it would be best for his career were he to move on.

"He's been offered a new contract by Accrington and I have told him as his father to turn it down. His agent has said the same thing," the ex-Hull City striker told the Hull Daily Mail.

"Josh loves it at Accrington and he loves the dressing room environment there, which is important for a player, but unless Accrington turn down an offer for him in January, which I cannot see them doing, then he will be moving on.

"What's important for me is to see him go somewhere where he is going to play right now. There have been lots of clubs interested in him, but what he needs right now at this stage of his career is to be playing games to enable him to get more experience and improve further."

The youngster has scored 15 goals from his 62 appearances for Accrington.
