Petrofac Training Cup roundup: Stranraer advance with victory over Falkirk

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's action from the Petrofac Training Cup second round as Scottish League One side Stranraer claim victory over Falkirk.

Scottish League One side Stranraer advanced to the semi-finals of the Petrofac Training Cup with a 1-0 victory over Championship outfit Falkirk at Stair Park this afternoon.

Anthony Marenghi scored the crucial goal as his deflected effort from Craig Malcolm's cut-back found its way past Jamie McDonald in the Falkirk goal on 41 minutes.

Meanwhile, Alloa Athletic left it late to book their place in the next round. Ryan McCord converted Michael Doyle's cross in the 89th minute to give his team a 1-0 victory and end the hopes of a spirited Greenock Morton side.

Elsewhere Peterhead and Livingston's clash finished 0-0 after 90 minutes, with Myles Hippolyte's extra-time goal enough to take Livingston into the next round.

The draw for the semi-final of the Petrofac Training Cup takes place on Tuesday.
