Nine-man Almeria hold Deportivo La Coruna

Almeria hold on for a point after losing two players to red cards in a goalless draw with Deportivo La Coruna.

A goalless draw has seen Almeria and Depotivo La Coruna move a step further away from the La Liga relegation zone.

Almeria came close to breaking the deadlock inside two minutes when Tomer Hemed connected with an acrobatic effort, but Fabricio made a fine save to keep his side on level terms.

Both sides were keen to get onto the front foot, but chances were wasted at both ends, with Oriol Riera somehow firing over the crossbar from close range.

Almeria goalkeeper Julian made a couple of good stops in the first half, and saved his best for just before the interval as he kept out Rieria's powerful header.

A long-range strike from Verza caused problems for Fabricio after the break, but Mauro Dos Santos could only hit the rebound into the side-netting.

The pressure was piled on the hosts in the 55th minute when Thievy Bifouma was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Deportivo controlled possession after being handed the numerical advantage, but the visitors were restricted to speculative efforts as Almeria defended impressively.

Neither side were able to find the breakthrough late on as the two sets of defences held firm to protect their respective clean sheets, even after Almeria lost a second player when Michel received his second booking for dissent, moments after committing a foul in midfield.
