Marek Hamsik to miss Arsenal match

Napoli head coach Rafael Benitez reveals that midfielder Marek Hamsik is likely to miss the team's Champions League match against Arsenal.

Napoli have confirmed that Marek Hamsik will not be ready to return for their Champions League clash with Arsenal next week.

The Italian side had been hopeful that the midfielder, who has been struggling with excess fluid in his foot, would be able to play in the last of the group stage games on Wednesday.

"Marek has an oedema on his feet. It's not a serious thing but we must wait the right time to allow the problem to disappear," Sky Sports News quotes head coach Rafael Benitez as saying.

"He won't play on Saturday and probably not at Arsenal either. Our mind is only for this [weekend]. The obstacle that arrives before is the one you must overcome and it's the most difficult one."

Napoli will need to beat Arsenal by three goals or more to secure a place in the knockout stages of the tournament.
