Rob Holding desperate to feature for Arsenal in Champions League

Arsenal defender Rob Holding insists that it will be a "great honour and privilege" to represent the club in the Champions League this season.

Rob Holding has admitted that he is relishing the chance to compete in the Champions League with Arsenal this season if given the nod by manager Arsene Wenger.

The 20-year-old was handed his Premier League bow in the opening game of the season against Liverpool - a tough test for the youngster alongside Calum Chambers in the heart of defence.

Holding fared much better in the goalless draw with Leicester City last time out, however, helping his side to keep a clean sheet with the far more experienced Laurent Koscielny back in the side.

With the return of the Champions League now on the horizon following Thursday's draw in Monaco, the former Bolton Wanderers defender insists that he is ready to compete against Europe's best.

"It would would be a great honour and privilege to play in the Champions League," he told Arsenal's official website. "Some of the teams you come up against, such as the Barcelonas and Real Madrids - they are some of the biggest in Europe.

"I'm looking forward to it. I will be over the moon to go over to their stadiums and play there. You have got to have those dreams. That's your ambition - that's why you get into football and what you aspire to do. You want to lift trophies and win things."

Despite featuring in both of Arsenal's opening Premier League fixtures, Holding missed out on a call to the England senior fold and will instead feature for the Under-21s next month.
