Jurgen Klopp unsure of James Milner, Daniel Sturridge fitness

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is unsure whether James Milner and Daniel Sturridge will be fit in time for their Premier League opener away to Arsenal.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is unsure whether James Milner and Daniel Sturridge will be fit in time for Sunday's Premier League opener against Arsenal.

Milner is currently suffering from a heel injury, while Sturridge was ruled out of his side's final two pre-season games due to a problem with his hip.

Neither injury is thought to be serious, but both players remain doubts ahead of Liverpool's trip to the Emirates Stadium.

"With Millie it is not too serious. Millie on crutches is something you cannot bring together because, how we would say in Germany, he would walk with one leg under his arms," Klopp told reporters.

"It is better and better and better. It's a bruise in the heel. We have to wait for the moment. It's possible he can be involved at the weekend but we are not sure.

"Sturridge could be involved today in team training but he came back late and has missed a lot of sessions in pre-season training. We have to make a decision on him."

Liverpool won six and lost three of their nine pre-season outings.
