Liam Brady to resign as Arsenal's head of youth academy

Head of Arsenal's youth academy Liam Brady will step down from his role in May 2014, the club have confirmed.

Arsenal have announced that head of the club's youth academy Liam Brady will resign from his post in May next year.

The 56-year-old, who will be offered a different role within the club once he steps down, has spent 25 years with the North London club.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis told the club's official website: "Liam has a deep understanding of what it takes to discover and develop a talented youngster into someone who can perform at the highest level.

"He has made a massive contribution to Arsenal Football Club. It will be difficult to find a worthy successor but we will be looking for someone who can build on what Liam and his team have created."

Brady oversaw the development of a host of Arsenal players, including current first-team stars Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs.
