Petr Cech: 'My mistake was not in the script'

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech concedes that his 'mistake' which helped West Ham to a 2-0 win at the Emirates was "not in the script".

Petr Cech has admitted that his 'mistake' in Arsenal's 2-0 defeat to West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon was "not in the script".

The goalkeeper endured a disappointing debut as the Gunners began their 2015-16 Premier League campaign on a sour note.

The 33-year-old was arguably culpable for the Hammers' first-half opener after being beaten to the ball by Cheikhou Kouyate, and Cech, signed for £11m from Chelsea, concedes that his bow could have been better.

He wrote on Twitter: "First game like this was not in the script - Mistake and no points. But tomorrow is another day to get ready for the next game! #COYG"

Next up for Arsenal is a trip to Crystal Palace next Sunday.
