Carl Jenkinson focused on West Ham United

West Ham United defender Carl Jenkinson reveals that he is only worried about his situation at the Hammers, rather than parent club Arsenal's injury concerns at the back.

West Ham United defender Carl Jenkinson has revealed that he is focused solely on his duties for the Hammers, despite his parent club Arsenal's struggles with injuries at the back.

Jenkinson was allowed to leave the Gunners to go on loan to Sam Allardyce's side until the end of the season as Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

However, an injury to Debuchy has left Arsene Wenger short of options at the back, and he was forced to play 19-year-old Hector Bellerin in his side's Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

He told the Newham Recorder: "At the end of the day, I can't think too much about Arsenal, I have a job to do here. It has been a frustrating start but I am feeling fit and strong.

"I know Arsenal have a bit of an injury crisis over there at the moment but it was the boss's decision to allow me to go on loan.

"I think in the long term it will be the best thing for me and the club for sure."

The 22-year-old has made two appearances for West Ham this season.
