Martin Keown: 'Arsenal record against big clubs not good enough'

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown claims that the Gunners' record against the Premier League's top clubs is "simply not good enough".

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has launched a scathing criticism of his former club, claiming that the Gunners' record against the Premier League's top clubs is "simply not good enough".

Ahead of their visit of Manchester City on Sunday, Arsene Wenger's charges have only recorded one win in five games against Chelsea, Southampton, Manchester United and the Citizens this season.

Keown believes that this is a major concern, telling BBC Sport: "Arsenal's record against the big clubs is simply not good enough. This is the opportunity for them to suggest they are back on track.

"Arsenal are seen as a soft touch by the big clubs. They have to win the game to progress into the Champions League spots.

"Arsene Wenger tries to instil belief into his group but are they buying into that? I'm not so sure. Is there the desire there that 'I must win at all costs'?"

Arsenal last won the Premier League in 2004.
