Nacho Monreal receives praise from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for his debut performance against Stoke City.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he was impressed with Nacho Monreal's first outing as an Arsenal player yesterday afternoon.

The Spanish left-back arrived at the Emirates Stadium on transfer deadline day from Malaga in a deal thought to be worth around £8m.

He was handed an immediate debut during the 1-0 victory over Stoke City and Wenger has confessed that he was more than happy with what he saw from the 26-year-old.

"There is no better culture shock than Stoke when you come from Spain," the manager told the club's official website. "They had a very physical game and I think he dealt well with it."

Nacho has made nine appearances for the Spanish national team.
