Arsene Wenger confirms that Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will be back from injury ahead of schedule.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere will return from injury in the New Year.

The 19-year-old has been sidelined after he underwent surgery on an ankle injury that he picked up at the start of the season.

However, Wenger has revealed that the midfielder will be back ahead of schedule.

"A target could be the beginning of 2012," he said. "When I say that, I mean the end of January. Or February.

"He is doing very well, but we'll assess him again next month."

The Gunners host Fulham in the Premier League later today.
