Manchester United interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has said that the Red Devils need a proven goalscorer if they are to become a force in the Premier League and Champions League once again.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have only managed three goals between them in all competitions this season, with the latter netting just once in his first 16 appearances for the 20-time English champions.

Hojliund had a relatively successful first campaign at Old Trafford, scoring 16 times in 43 appearances, but the Denmark international has only managed two goals in 11 outings this term.

Former Man United manager Erik ten Hag had been keen to bring in Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but the England captain ultimately made the move to Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich could reportedly attempt to use Bayer Leverkusen's interest in Paul Wanner in order to win the race for the in-demand Florian Wirtz during next summer's transfer window.

Wirtz's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with the 21-year-old widely expected to leave Leverkusen in 2025.

The forward has again been in strong form for the Bundesliga champions this season, scoring seven goals and registering one assist in 16 appearances in all competitions, including three goals in four Champions League matches.

A whole host of major clubs are said to be interested in the Germany international, with Manchester City and Real Madrid both believed to be determined to sign him next year.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in submitting a January bid for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough term in Germany last year after securing a high-profile switch from Swedish giants Malmo over the summer of 2023.

After finding the net on two occasions during his debut term for Eintracht Frankfurt, Larsson has progressed significantly, scoring three times and providing one assist across 15 competitive appearances so far in 2024-25.

The midfielder also possesses relative international pedigree, having represented Sweden alongside the likes of Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres.

Porto forward Samu Omorodion has been handed his first call-up to the senior Spain team for the country's November UEFA Nations League fixtures against Denmark and Switzerland.

The 20-year-old has been in outstanding form for his Portuguese club during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 11 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions, and he is believed to be wanted by both Manchester United and Chelsea.

"At the age of 20 he has football potential. He burst on to the scene in a way that has attracted attention. It's time to give him continuity," Spain coach Luis de la Fuente told reporters when explaining his decision.

Omorodion is one of three uncapped players in the latest squad, with Athletic Bilbao's Aitor Paredes also being rewarded for his strong form, while Marc Casado is included off the back of an excellent few months at Barcelona.

Manchester United have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres, with Paris Saint-Germain said to have pulled out of the race to sign the Sporting Lisbon centre-forward.

Gyokeres has been in red-hot form for Sporting during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 23 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions, including 16 goals in 10 outings in Portugal's top flight.

Ruben Amorim is said to be keen to bring Gyokeres with him to Man United next summer, and there is currently a host of speculation surrounding the Sweden international's future.

Despite having a €100m (£83m) release clause in his contract, it is understood that the forward will be allowed to leave the Green and Whites next summer for a fee in the region of €76m (£63m).

Neymar is reportedly seeking to end his nightmare spell in Saudi Arabia by pushing ahead with a return to former club Santos.

The Brazilian played just five matches after his big-money move to Al-Hilal last year before rupturing his ACL and missing 12 months of action.

As Brazil's all-time record goalscorer, Neymar was one of numerous glittering names that made the move to the Saudi Pro League last year, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane.

Following that injury hell, Neymar returned midway through October, but will now miss another four-to-six weeks after being forced off against Esteghlal in the AFC Champions League earlier this week.
