Arsenal 'end interest in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya'

Arsenal reportedly end their interest in Brentford's David Raya as his £10m release clause is no longer active following the Bees' promotion to the Premier League.

Arsenal have reportedly been forced to shelve plans to sign Brentford number one David Raya.

With Bernd Leno's future at the Emirates Stadium not thought to be entirely secure, the Gunners have been tipped to bring in a new shot-stopper ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Brighton & Hove Albion's Mat Ryan has opened the door to another spell at the club following his loan period, but Brentford's Raya was also thought to be on Arsenal's radar.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Raya's £10m release clause was only active if the Bees failed to secure promotion to the Premier League, so the Gunners will be forced to look elsewhere for a new name in between the sticks.

Raya kept 16 clean sheets in 42 Championship appearances during the regular season, and he recorded another shut-out against Swansea City in the playoff final as Brentford won 2-0 to earn promotion to the top flight.

Ajax's Andre Onana and Mike Maignan have also been linked with moves to Arsenal, but the latter is confirmed to be joining AC Milan from Lille this summer.
