Arsenal reportedly prepare a summer swoop for Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a summer swoop for Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Pope dislocated his shoulder last summer and has been unable to regain his spot in the Burnley XI, with Tom Heaton currently Sean Dyche's number one at Turf Moor.

Joe Hart is Heaton's back-up, meanwhile, leaving Pope, who travelled with England to the 2018 World Cup, struggling to make the bench in the Premier League.

According to The Sun, Arsenal will keep Bernd Leno as their number one next season, but the Gunners need a replacement for Petr Cech, who is retiring at the end of the campaign.

The report claims that Pope is seen as the perfect candidate for the position, with Burnley prepared to let the Englishman leave despite an impressive 2017-18 campaign.

Aside from 14 minutes against Aberdeen in the Europa League - where Pope suffered his shoulder problem - the stopper's only football this season has come in the FA Cup.
