Arsenal 'make approach for Matheus Martinelli'

Arsenal make contact with the representatives of Fluminense midfielder Matheus Martinelli, according to a report.

Arsenal have reportedly approached the representatives of Fluminense midfielder Matheus Martinelli to register their interest in the highly-rated teenager.

The 19-year-old has scored three times and provided one assist in 16 appearances for his current club, where he has a contract until December 2024.

According to Globo Esporte, Arsenal have been scouting Martinelli in the early stages of 2021 and are keen to bring him to the Emirates Stadium in the near future.

The report that the Gunners have already contacted the teenager's representatives to discuss a move, although the North London club are yet to submit an official transfer offer.

Martinelli has been with Fluminense since 2017 and made his professional debut for the Brazilian club in December 2020, having impressed at youth level.

Arsenal are also reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt as an alternative to Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard.
