Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach pair Matthias Ginter and Denis Zakaria.

Both players will see their contracts with the German club expire next summer, with Ginter already confirming that he will not be renewing his deal.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, both Ginter, 27, and Zakaria, 25, have been identified as potential targets for Barcelona by the club's director of football Mateu Alemany.

After signing three players on free transfers over the summer – Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero – Barca are prepared to negotiate pre-contract agreements with other talents across Europe due to their financial concerns.

The €55m addition of Ferran Torres earlier this week, funded by a bank loan taken out by Barca's hierarchy, is believed to have taken a large chunk of their transfer budget, leaving head coach Xavi to target cheaper alternatives in the short term.

Both Ginter and Zakaria joined Monchengladbach in the summer of 2017, with the former making 165 appearances across all competitions, while the latter – who has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool – has featured 144 times in all tournaments.
