Chelsea, Arsenal 'handed Jerome Boateng boost'

Jerome Boateng, who has been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal, will leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer this summer, according to a report.

Bayern Munich are reportedly not planning to offer Jerome Boateng a new contract, with the experienced centre-back set to be available on a free transfer this summer.

The 32-year-old has been a regular for the German champions during the 2020-21 campaign, making 27 appearances in all competitions, including 20 outings in the Bundesliga.

The German's deal at the Allianz Arena is due to expire at the end of June, though, and according to Bild, Bayern are prepared to let him leave on a free.

The report claims that Boateng has been left 'disappointed' by the club's decision and is now planning his next move.

Chelsea and Arsenal have both been strongly linked with the defender, who played in the Premier League for Manchester City during the 2010-11 campaign before moving to Bayern.

The World Cup winner has won eight Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns during his time with Der FCB.
