Chelsea reportedly intend to end their interest in securing a deal for Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
With the Gabon international having just over a year left on his contract, it has been suggested that the versatile attacker could be provided with an opportunity to make the switch across London.
However, according to ESPN, the Blues will not move for the 30-year-old if they can wrap up the signing of RB Leipzig's Timo Werner.
On Thursday, it was claimed that Chelsea were prepared to meet the release clause of the in-form Germany international before June 15, the set cut-off date.
Having already agreed to bring in Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, the duo would act as suitable replacements for the outgoing Willian and Pedro.
If Werner does not move to Stamford Bridge, it is suggested that Chelsea may return for Aubameyang at a later date.
