Olivier Giroud: 'Arsenal don't need a striker'

Olivier Giroud claims that he would prefer not to see Arsenal sign a striker in the January transfer window.

Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud has urged manager Arsene Wenger not to invest in a striker in the January transfer window.

Wenger is touted to recruit competition for the Frenchman next month, with Nicklas Bendtner the only other out-and-out centre-forward at the club.

However, Giroud, who hit the winner in the 1-0 victory over Newcastle United this afternoon, has said that he would rather see the manager utilising other options in an advanced position rather than welcoming a new striker to the club.

"Lukas is having a good come-back. Theo can play as a striker. We have the quality and the quantity," he told Canal+

"If the coach wants me to rest, he can do it without buying a new striker. I would rather not see a new striker come in."

The France international has struck 11 times in all competitions for the North London outfit this season.
