Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs that are taking an interest in a Brazilian wonderkid who represents Palmeiras.

Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs to have identified a Palmeiras defender as a potential transfer target.

Despite making just the one addition during the summer window, Liverpool have been able to make the perfect start to the new Premier League campaign.

Seven goals and three clean sheets have come in games against Ipswich Town, Brentford and Manchester United, leaving them level on points with champions Manchester City.

Arne Slot had been expected to sign at least one new centre-back, rather than stick with the quartet of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez.

Nevertheless, it appears that the club's recruitment team are giving plenty of thought regarding fresh faces for that area of the pitch.

Reis on Liverpool radar

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are one of several teams who are considering an approach for Vitor Reis.

Although still just 18 years of age, the centre-back is emerging as one of the top prospects in Brazilian football.

A total of nine starts and one substitute outing have been made in the top flight during 2024, with a total of 14 appearances being made in all competitions.

The Brazil Under-17 international has already been tied down to a contract until 2028, a sign of the promise that the teenager has shown thus far.

Scouts at a number of clubs are said to have been left impressed with the progression of the starlet at a time when Palmeiras are competing for the league title.

Despite sitting in third position in the table, just 19 goals have been conceded in their 25 league matches.

Who else is interested?

Arsenal, who have attracted Brazilian talent to the club in the past with Edu as sporting director, are another Premier League side who are said to be monitoring the situation.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have similar history when it comes to signing South American youngsters and will also be viewed as an attractive destination.

While a transfer fee has not been mentioned, Palmeiras have recently generated in excess of €150m through the sales of fellow prospects Luis Guilherme, Endrick and Willian Estevao.
