Numerous bookmakers installed Manchester United as a favourites to win the race to sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal this summer.

A number of bookmakers have installed Manchester United as favourites to sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal this summer.

The Dutch striker has been widely tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium before the start of the new season following his revelation that he would not be signing a new contract with the club.

That news has reportedly alerted Italian champions Juventus, as well as United's rivals Manchester City.

However, while odds of 2/1 and 9/4 have been given to Juventus and City respectively to capture Van Persie's services, United are currently rated as evens.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson recently confessed an interest in the 28-year-old after the Gunners had revealed that they had turned down an offer for their centre-forward from the Red Devils.
