Report: Chelsea want Alvaro Arbeloa

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to land out-of-favour full-back Alvaro Arbeloa, fending off competition from Liverpool and Arsenal.

Chelsea will reportedly beat Liverpool and Arsenal to the signing of Real Madrid's full-back Alvaro Arbeloa, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.

Jose Mourinho is looking to be reunited with the Spanish defender and could get Arbeloa for a cut price, as the Champions League winners are looking to offload the 31-year-old.

Arbeloa worked under the Chelsea boss during the Portuguese's time at Real and would battle Branislav Ivanovic for the right-back spot, according to the The Express.

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly in the market for a defender and Arbeloa could be an ideal choice for both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers.

However, it looks as if Chelsea are edging the race for the full-back, thanks to Mourinho's previous relationship with the defender.
