Arsene Wenger hints at Arsenal exit for Mathieu Debuchy

Arsene Wenger admits that French right-back Mathieu Debuchy might be allowed to leave the club in January so that he can increase his chances of playing at Euro 2016.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that Mathieu Debuchy could leave the club in January.

The 30-year-old has fallen behind Hector Bellerin in the pecking order at right-back and only made two Premier League starts this season.

Debuchy is thought to be keen on a move away so that he can try to get into the France squad for the home Euro 2016 tournament next year, and Wenger told reporters today that he might be allowed to leave.

"It's not impossible," said Wenger. "I'm happy if he stays but we'll see."

Debuchy's contract at Arsenal still has three-and-a-half years to run after he signed a five-year deal when signing from Newcastle United in summer 2014.
