Michael Ballack: 'Mesut Ozil looks lost ahead of World Cup'

Michael Ballack believes that Mesut Ozil "looks lost" ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.

Former Germany midfielder Michael Ballack has claimed that Mesut Ozil "looks lost" ahead of this summer's World Cup.

Ozil found it difficult to find his best form after moving to Arsenal from Real Madrid last summer, and Ballack believes that the attacking midfielder is clearly struggling for confidence.

After seeing Ozil jeered by some German supporters in the draw with Cameroon on Sunday, Ballack told reporters: "He looks lost.

"It's difficult to say where his head is going to be at the World Cup. I saw him play for the national team at the weekend and I was not surprised, not scared, but a little bit concerned, by his performances actually.

"He has done well for Germany, and he played well during the qualifying campaign, but in the last few months - since his move to Arsenal - he has not been the same player, in terms of his confidence, that we used to see in the national team."

Jerome Boateng came to the defence of Ozil following the reception he received from a section of fans.
