Paul Lambert pleased with display despite defeat

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert insists that he was pleased with the way his side played against Swansea City, despite losing 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has revealed that he was pleased with his side's performance, despite their 1-0 defeat to Swansea City.

A first-half strike from Gylfi Sigurdsson was enough to secure the three points for Garry Monk's side, but Villa pressed the hosts for the majority of the match and Christian Benteke was unfortunate not to find the net with a late headed effort.

Lambert told BBC Sport: "We're very pleased with how we played. I thought we were fantastic throughout the game. I thought we passed the ball excellently and the goalkeeper kept them in the game.

"If you ask the lads in the dressing room, they want the games to come quickly because they're playing well.

"Christian Benteke had done everything, put the header across goal, but Lukasz Fabianski came up with a great save. The way we're playing is really pleasing. We've changed the way we've played over the last three to four weeks and the lads have been brilliant with it."

Villa are 13th in the Premier League following their defeat to the Swans.
