Aston Villa captain Micah Richards handed immediate one-game ban

Aston Villa captain Micah Richards is handed an immediate one-game ban by the FA, ruling him out of tonight's Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Aston Villa captain Micah Richards will miss tonight's Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur after being issued with an immediate one-game ban by the Football Association.

The 27-year-old was charged with improper conduct after a confrontation with Swansea City defender Federico Fernandez spilled into the tunnel during Villa's 2-1 defeat last month.

Last week, the former Manchester City defender accepted the charge, and now he has been given a one-match ban and a £10,000 fine.

Richards travelled with the team to White Hart Lane this evening, but will be unable to play.
