Jimmy Sinclair joins Aston Villa coaching staff alongside interim boss Eric Black

Aston Villa interim manager Eric Black confirms the arrival of Jimmy Sinclair, who will join the club's coaching staff.

Aston Villa interim manager Eric Black has confirmed that Jimmy Sinclair has joined the club's coaching staff.

Sinclair, who has previous experience at the Rangers youth academy and at the Scottish Football Association as a technical director, will help the team in their final games of the season.

Villa, who will appoint a permanent manager in the summer following the recent departure of Remi Garde, are destined for the Championship next season as they are currently 15 points from safety in the Premier League.

When speaking about Sinclair's arrival, Black told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to confirm I'll be assisted by Jimmy Sinclair during my tenure as acting manager.

"You'll see him in the dugout for the first time this weekend. He's someone I trust implicitly and he is a hugely respected figure within Scottish football, having worked at the Scottish Football Association and Rangers.

"Jimmy is a great coach and has a fantastic knowledge of the game. I feel really fortunate I've been able to call upon his services at such short notice."

Villa will take on Bournemouth at home on Saturday afternoon.
