Andreas Weimann bemoans "frustrating" Tottenham Hotspur defeat

Aston Villa forward Andreas Weimann acknowledges that his side must turn their poor form around quickly if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation fight.

Andreas Weimann has expressed his belief that Aston Villa were hard done by against Tottenham Hotspur this evening in what he described as one of his side's "best performances of the season".

It looked as though the 23-year-old forward's early strike would be enough to win the game for the Villans, but two goals in the final four minutes saw Spurs capitalise on their man advantage after Christian Benteke had been shown a red card to leave Villa Park with all three points.

Villa have now lost their last six games in the Premier League, a run which Weimann admits must come to an end soon if they are to avoid being pulled into a relegation battle.

"I thought we played them off the park in the first half but conceded two set pieces at the end," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"It was nice to score but it didn't mean anything because we lost. We need to turn the run around quickly. It is very frustrating. We produced one of the best performances of the season but conceded two silly set pieces."

Next up for Paul Lambert's men is a trip to face West Ham United next weekend.
