Aston Villa have announced that striker Christian Benteke has withdrawn his transfer request and put pen to paper on a contract extension.
The Belgian frontman had been expected to seek pastures new after expressing that he wanted to leave Villa Park, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool being touted as possible destinations.
Despite Benteke's initial intentions, following talks with manager Paul Lambert, the 22-year-old now feels that he is at the right club to continue his progression.
Benteke's contract now runs until 2017.
