Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including Marco Asensio to Aston Villa and Edson Alvarez to Monaco.

Aston Villa are reportedly considering making a move for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Marco Asensio.

The 28-year-old has made 15 appearances for PSG this season, scoring twice and registering four assists, but his contract in the French capital is due to expire in June 2026, and there is currently speculation surrounding his future.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique has allegedly made Asensio available for transfer this month, and according to FootMercato, Villa are interested in bringing him to the Premier League before the end of the market.

The report claims that Juventus and Real Sociedad are also keen, with a number of clubs likely to be in the mix, should it become clear that the Spaniard is on his way out of the club over the next couple of weeks.

Asensio arrived at PSG from Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, and he has represented his current side on 46 occasions, scoring seven goals and registering 11 assists in the process.

Monaco 'pushing to sign Alvarez from West Ham'

Meanwhile, Monaco are reportedly pushing to sign West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez before the end of the month.

The Mexico international has made 19 appearances for West Ham during the 2024-25 campaign, including 16 outings in the Premier League, but there has been speculation surrounding his future during the January market.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Monaco have failed with an initial loan proposal for Alvarez, but the Ligue 1 outfit are still speaking with the Hammers in the hope that an agreement can be found.

Romano claims that West Ham view Alvarez as an "important player", but a move before the end of the market cannot be ruled out.

The 27-year-old arrived at the London Stadium from Ajax in August 2023, and he has represented his current side on 61 occasions in all competitions, scoring two goals and registering two assists in the process.

Newcastle 'battling to keep Dubravka at club'

Elsewhere, Newcastle United are reportedly preparing to offer Martin Dubravka a new contract in the hope of preventing the experienced goalkeeper from leaving the club before the end of the month.

There is currently a host of speculation surrounding the stopper's future, with Al Shabab thought to be pushing to sign him, while there is also believed to be interest from the MLS.

However, according to Romano, Newcastle are planning to offer Dubravka a new contract.

The 35-year-old's existing deal at St James' Park is due to expire this summer, but he has impressed for the Magpies this term, keeping six clean sheets in eight appearances in all competitions.

Dubravka has only conceded once in five Premier League appearances, with the Slovakia international playing a key role in his side's recent run of excellent form in England's top flight.
