Melbourne City have completed a loan deal for Aston Villa forward Ross McCormack, subject to a medical.
Last summer, Villa paid Fulham a fee of £12m to sign McCormack, who had a proven track record of scoring goals in the Championship, but the Scot has endured a hugely disappointing spell in the West Midlands.
The 31-year-old scored just three goals in 22 appearances in all competitions before he was loaned out to Nottingham Forest, with just one more strike coming from seven outings.
McCormack has featured as a substitute in the EFL Cup this season, but the coming months will be spent in Australia with Melbourne City, who get their A-League campaign underway at the start of October.
After finishing in fourth place last season, City lost out to Perth Glory at the first stage of the finals series.
