Diego Simeone rules Diego Godin out of Rayo Vallecano clash

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone rules centre-back Diego Godin out of Saturday's La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has ruled Diego Godin out of Saturday's La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano.

The experienced centre-back missed his team's Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich on Wednesday with a hamstring problem, but had been tipped to return this weekend.

Simeone, however, has revealed that he will choose between Stefan Savic, Lucas Hernandez and Jose Gimenez for the two centre-back positions against their neighbours.

"I will choose the players who can bring me solutions for this game. I am not thinking about [Godin] now. I am thinking about [Stefan] Savic, Lucas [Hernandez] and [Jose] Gimenez," Simeone told reporters.

Atletico currently sit second in the La Liga table and only trail leaders Barcelona on the head-to-head record.
