Jordi Roura laments Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano injury

Jordi Roura laments the injuries to Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano that will keep the duo out of Barcelona's home tie against Paris Saint-Germain next week.

Barcelona assistant coach Jordi Roura has admitted that losing Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain is a "very big blow".

Messi could be out for up to three weeks with a leg injury he sustained in the first leg at Parc des Princes, while his Argentine compatriot Mascherano is out for six weeks with a medial ligament tear in his knee.

"If neither Messi nor Mascherano can play the return leg, it will be a very big blow for us, but we will try to take advantage of the big squad we have," Roura told reporters on Tuesday.

"We knew beforehand about the potential that PSG have, so we were not surprised by them. They are a very direct and physical team.

"While knowing how hard the second leg will be, we are capable of winning at our ground and getting through this tie."

The first leg ended in a 2-2 draw in Paris.
