Former Barcelona full-back Juliano Belletti has revealed that Lionel Messi struggles with the idea of squad rotation and the Argentine 'dislikes being on the bench'.
The Barcelona talisman's future is being questioned after he started on the bench in the 1-0 defeat against Real Sociedad.
Belletti revealed that Messi finds it hard to accept squad rotation and never wants to miss a game.
However, the former right-back believes that Messi is entitled to some "privileges" given his huge success with the Catalan giants.
"Messi doesn't like being on the bench. He doesn't accept rotation, which, in the long term, is important," Belletti said, according to Goal.com.
"When I was at Barcelona, I saw him have discussions with the coaching staff because he didn't want to miss a game.
"The Barcelona of today is Messi. If they've won so many titles, it was because of the high standards Messi offered. It seems normal to me that he'd have certain privileges. If he wants to play, to keep a calm atmosphere, you should let him play."
Messi is reportedly having a stressful relationship with current Barca boss Luis Enrique, which has led to rumours of a potential £200m move to Chelsea.
