Xavi: 'I want to remain at Barcelona forever'

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has no plans to follow teammate Carles Puyol out of the Camp Nou next season.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has insisted that he would like to remain at the club 'forever'.

The 34-year-old will captain Spain in their World Cup defence this summer.

His Barca teammate Carles Puyol announced that he will leave at the end of the season but Xavi has no such plans.

"I'd like to remain in football forever," Xavi told the Daily Mail. "It would always have to be with Barcelona.

"My heart and feelings are with the club. Right now, I love to play football siempre, siempre [always, always]. When you're a kid playing you enjoy having the ball. All I ever want to do is have the ball at my feet.

"I've been brought up with that style. I can't see any other way to play."

Barcelona take on Real Valladolid this afternoon..
