Cesare Prandelli 'not contemplating' Joao Cancelo exit

Valencia boss Cesare Prandelli says that he is 'not contemplating' Joao Cancelo leaving the Mestalla in the January transfer window.

Valencia boss Cesare Prandelli has warned Barcelona off making a move for Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo.

Cancelo, 22, has been strongly linked with a move to Camp Nou in recent weeks, with Barcelona believed to be interested in signing a new right-back in the January transfer window.

Last month, the Portugal international was coy on his future plans when asked about the interest from Barcelona, but Prandelli is not prepared to entertain suggestions that the full-back could move on.

"I do not contemplate Cancelo's exit," Prandelli told Todomercadoweb.es. "It's something that we have to speak about with the club, but in this moment we must not think about the transfer market. He is a very important player, who is growing. He can play in various positions without problems."

Cancelo joined Valencia from Benfica in 2015 after a loan spell at the Mestalla.
