Jerome Boateng: 'Bayern Munich are favourites'

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng believes that his side should be considered favourites for their Champions League last-16 clash with Juventus.

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has claimed that his side will be favourites going into their Champions League last-16 tie with Juventus.

Bayern, who finished top of their group with 15 points from a possible 18, have won 21 of their 24 outings in all competitions this season and are one of the favourites to lift the trophy in May.

However, Juventus reached the final last season and Boateng acknowledged that they would be coming up against a formidable opponent.

"[Juventus] are a strong opponent, they are very clever and tactically outstanding. Nevertheless, we are the favourites," he told UEFA's official website.

Bayern and Juventus have participated in 18 European Cup/Champions League finals between them, lifting the trophy on seven occasions.
