Pep Guardiola: 'Franck Ribery closing in on return'

Pep Guardiola claims that Franck Ribery could be back in training with his Bayern Munich teammates in the next two weeks.

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has revealed that Franck Ribery could return to training within the next two weeks.

Ribery has not played since March due to an ankle injury, with the club initially expecting him to be back in action at the start of this season.

Summer signings Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman have stepped up in his absence, but Guardiola is hopeful that the Frenchman will be available again in the near future.

"Franck has made great strides in the past week," the Spaniard told reporters. "Maybe he can in a week or two participate in parts of the team training."

Ribery was restricted to just 23 appearances in all competitions last season.
