Xabi Alonso expects to end career at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso expects to end his career with the Bundesliga giants.

Xabi Alonso has claimed that he expects to end his playing days at Bayern Munich.

The 34-year-old is entering the final years of his career following spells at Real Sociedad, Liverpool and Real Madrid.

The midfielder has scooped 13 trophies, including two Champions League titles, two Bundesliga crowns and one La Liga triumph.

The Spaniard has admitted that he would ideally like to experience playing in Italy, but thinks that time is catching up to him.

"I think [Bayern will be my last club]," Alonso told Marca. "While my mind and body can bear it, I want to keep playing at the elite level.

"And that will be with Bayern - I do not think there is another step for me in senior football. I would go to Italy, but there is not time to give myself there."

Alonso's current contract expires at the end of the season and he does not yet know whether it will be extended.
