Franz Beckenbauer: 'Franck Ribery, Jerome Boateng hurting Bayern Munich'

Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer believes that Franck Ribery and Jerome Boateng must be more disciplined on the field.

Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has claimed that Franck Ribery and Jerome Boateng must control their emotions better.

Former France international Ribery was recently criticised by manager Pep Guardiola for his tendency to react when provoked by opponents.

Beckenbauer believes that centre-back Boateng also suffers from a lack of discipline.

"Ribery is often dealt with pretty roughly. But that does not mean he can afford to lose his temper, even if he is often provoked," Beckenbauer told Sky Deutschland.

"People know that he often reacts. It's the same thing with Boateng. One should talk to the players about this, because they are hurting the team."

Bayern beat Werder Bremen 4-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
