Ruud Gullit: 'Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery not in Lionel Messi's class'

Ruud Gullit denies that Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are as good as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Former Netherlands international Ruud Gullit has revealed that he does not believe that the Bayern Munich duo of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are in the same class as Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gullit has insisted that Bayern, who were shocked by BATE Borisov in last night's Champions League encounter, have a well-drilled team but do not have players with the calibre of the Argentinian Messi or the Portuguese Ronaldo.

Speaking to Bild, Gullit said: "Bayern are a good team. They do not have many stars but the team is well put together.

"Messi and Ronaldo are stars. They are of a different calibre than Robben and Ribery.

"[Robben] is the best player the Netherlands have. [However] whenever you need him, something happens. His body is springing nasty surprises. He is injured far too often."

Bayern are currently second in Group F behind their conquerors BATE.
