Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hints that European sides are 'wary' of German clubs due to their success in the group stages of the Champions League.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hinted that European sides are wary of German clubs due to their success in the Champions League group stages.

Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 all finished top of their respective groups, seeing off Valencia, Real Madrid and Arsenal in the process.

"At the moment, I don't think anyone in Europe would be happy about facing a German team. We, and also Dortmund and Schalke, have earned great respect around Europe," Rummenigge told the official Bayern website.

The Bayern chairman is anticipating the draw for the first knockout stage and believes that Jupp Heynckes's side have the hunger to succeed.

"When I look at our potential opponents, there are a few big names in there. We'll definitely continue to be highly motivated for the Champions League. Let's see what we get in the draw."

Bayern, Dortmund and Schalke will find out who their opponents are when the draw takes place in Nyon on December 20.
