Schalke 04: 'We don't need Xherdan Shaqiri'

Schalke 04 sporting director Horst Heldt dismisses reports that his club are looking to sign Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

Schalke 04 have dismissed speculation linking the club to Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri, claiming that they already have enough players in that position at the Veltins-Arena.

The 22-year-old Switzerland international is reportedly unhappy at the Allianz Arena, which has led to the German press linking him with a move to the Gelsenkirchen outfit in 2015.

However, Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt is quoted by German magazine Sportbild as saying: "[Shaqiri] is a great player, but we are sufficiently well staffed for wingers. A move would make no sense."

A host of other European clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, have been linked with Shaqiri.
