Camp denied both Steven Fletcher and Adam Reach before a double save from substitute Atdhe Nuhiu.

Birmingham manager Garry Monk praised goalkeeper Lee Camp for a series of fine saves which helped his side claim a battling point from a 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Camp denied both Steven Fletcher and Adam Reach before a double save from substitute Atdhe Nuhiu in second-half stoppage time kept the scores level.

Monk said of Camp: "I thought he was the best player on the pitch today. He's been fantastic since he's come in.

"He was a big reason why we managed to keep that point today."

Monk praised his players for battling to earn a point for the second game in a row over the busy festive period.

He added: "This is a really tough period. This is a hugely demanding period and we don't have the biggest of squads. We weren't as fresh as we would have wanted."

Camp pulled off a series of fine saves, denying Wednesday goal scorer Fletcher and Reach in the second half.

Wednesday had dominated the first period during which Fletcher stretched to curl the ball past Camp for the only time the Birmingham keeper was beaten.

Che Adams grabbed Birmingham's equaliser early in the second half before Camp produced his one-man show, also denying substitute Nuhiu in stoppage time before blocking the striker's follow-up effort.

Wednesday caretaker manager Lee Bullen was disappointed his players had not taken the chances they created after dominating for most of the game.

He said: "I think we dominated for about 80 minutes, we had a 10-minute spell in the second half during which we got punished.

"In the first half I felt we were the team with the legs, the team with the energy, the team with the quality.

"We're disappointed with the goal. The reaction to losing that goal I thought was second to none.

"Credit to Birmingham when you are not playing well the next best thing is to make sure you don't lose the game."
