Gary Bowyer delighted with defensive commitment

Gary Bowyer praises Blackburn Rovers for their defensive performance in the 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has lauded his side's defensive commitment following the 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead inside 26 minutes before being pegged back by Wednesday substitute Chris Maguire, but a stubborn display from the defence allowed them to take three points away from their trip to Yorkshire.

"The bravery of our football on a difficult pitch was very pleasing," Bowyer told reporters. "We encouraged the players to be brave and I think you saw that, particularly with our second goal, it was a great team goal.

"Then you saw different qualities in the second half. There was some wonderful desire to keep the ball out of the net."

Rovers now turn their attention to the FA Cup ahead of Sunday's quarter-final with Liverpool at Anfield.
