Midfielder Keith Andrews describes being loaned out by Bolton Wanderers as a "bolt out of the blue".

Midfielder Keith Andrews has admitted that he was surprised to be loaned out by Bolton Wanderers.

Andrews had featured for the Trotters during their pre-season campaign, but after moving to Brighton & Hove Albion for the season, the former West Bromwich Albion man has revealed that no-one had contacted him before his departure.

The 32-year-old told BBC Sussex: "It came as a bit of a bolt out of the blue as I had featured heavily in pre-season. It's all been a little bit strange.

"It was a decision that they made and they obviously made it very clear that I wasn't wanted at the football club.

"Nobody really had the decency to even phone me as I was leaving."

The Republic of Ireland international scored four times in 26 appearances for Bolton last season.
